Advices

1. Chow chow's coat and grooming

The chow chow is an ancient Tibetan breed, according to the FCI breed group V, it belongs to the section of Asian Spitz and relative breeds. Like all Spitz-type dogs, the Chow Chow has a double coat. The undercoat is soft and silky, while the cover coat is rough and brittle.

It is important for all of us to have our puppy and that it receives the right care from us, as a neglected coat and bad care can cause serious problems. If you don't take care of your dog's fur, it will clump together, i.e. it will become matted, which will make the skin unable to breathe and the dog will have skin problems.

Recommended comb and brush:

It is recommended to comb the dog every 2-3 days and bathe the dog every 3-4 weeks.

As in the case of all dogs, we bathe the Chow Chow thoroughly, not only the top coat but also the undercoat. It is important to reach the layer above the skin as dirt easily remains there.

We use a high-pressure dryer during the drying process, so the untying is also easier and the dog is dried in about half an hour.

When shaping or cutting, take into account that the Chow Chow is not a poodle, so it does not need to be cut to shape anywhere, the Chow Chow is known for its large fur, so don't spoil it, with excessive clipping, the dog's possible appearance defects become visible, which is quite a disadvantage at an exhibition. The hair must be cut in the paws and scissoring around the foot, and if necessary cut further back than the tail, so that the tail looks like it's upper.
